Burnhaupt-le-Haut is a village of 1795 inhabitants, located in the department of Haut-Rhin and the Alsace region, halfway between the towns of Mulhouse and Belfort. Its inhabitants are called the Burnhauptois and the Burnhauptoises.

The name of the village comes from the Old High German Brunn which became Burn: source and Haupt: main.

Its proximity to major communication routes (A36-E54-E60 motorway, D83 road, etc.) gives it an appeal sought after by all those who want a quiet and pleasant place close to towns (Cernay at 11 km, Masevaux at 14 km,

Thann at 15 km, Mulhouse at 19 km, Belfort 30 km,
