To participate in political elections, you must be registered on the electoral lists. Registration is automatic for young people aged 18 (under certain conditions), as well as for people obtaining French nationality from 2019. What should you do if the marital status on your electoral card contains an error? 

The civil status that appears on your electoral card is now that recorded in the National Directory for the Identification of Physical Persons (RNIPP) managed by INSEE from the information transmitted  by the municipalities or  through the social sphere.  The role of the RNIPP is to verify the official civil status of voters.  However, errors may exist and you can request their correction.

The request for correction of your civil status to the RNIPP differs according to your situation. If you were born in metropolitan France,  request the correction of your marital status from INSEE  in line.
