The implementation of the incentive fee on the two Burnhaupts at the beginning of 2011 coincides with the creation of the Syndicat Mixte de Thann-Cernay (SMTC), a logical evolution of the SIVU created in 1990, a syndicate which has acquired the competence for the collection of bio-waste and household waste. .

The missions of the Syndicat Mixte de Thann-Cernay (SMTC) are as follows:

• Collection of household and similar waste

• Collection of bio-waste

• Collection of recyclable packaging

• Landfill management.

In addition, there are two services: the collection of clothes with the Relais and the setting up of a recycling center with Emmaüs-Cernay.

The treatment of household waste (bio-waste + OMR) has been transferred to the Syndicat Mixte du Secteur 4 (SM4).

Invoicing remains within the competence of the Communities of Communes.
